From rfepley at gol.com Mon Dec 14 09:17:09 2009 From: rfepley at gol.com (Russ and Flossie) Date: Mon Dec 14 09:17:01 2009 Subject: [Epley Update] Dec. 14, 2009 Message-ID: I asked prayer recently for two upcoming events. There's one down and one to go. This is how God is working. Last Friday's workshop went very well. I was so eager to teach that I could hardly sleep the night before. Everyone who attended was very engaged and hopefully went away with plenty of ideas to make their homeschooling effective. I admire these moms who work so diligently to train their children. It's a privilege to influence the next generation through supporting homeschooling families. Tuesday, Dec. 15 I plan to sing and give a talk at a Ladies' Christmas meeting about an hour away from our home. Last week a lady from the church came to our house to go over things with me. I had all my music and talk prepared, but my one concern was that I didn't feel comfortable leaving Russ alone at home for long periods of time. I asked them to pray about that specifically. As we were praying the name "Hayato" flashed across my mind. To make a long story short, Hayato is a 14-year-old homeschooled young man who lost his father a year ago to cancer. He was baptized this past Easter with his mom and sister. He has a challenging life and did not grow up under the influence of a godly man. Hayato eagerly accepted my request to stay with Russ while I am gone. Now we're praying that Russ will be a blessing to Hayato even as Hayato serves Russ. If Russ had not had a stroke, he would likely not have this opportunity to spend seven hours with this young man. It sounds to me like God's grace on both Russ and Hayato. So we both need prayer Tuesday....for Russ as he spends time with Hayato and for me as I sing a mini-concert and speak.
